Finally, large bolts were placed through the beams and
diagonal bracing of cable tightened through the barn loft.
This was to prevent the structure "racking" or flexing
excessively.
Newton Grey's Sawmill cut 10 x 10 and 8 x 8 posts of used telephone poles, each 16 feet long.
They were sunk 4 feet into the ground. The interior support posts were reduced to just four, making
the space versatile for modern uses. Diagonal bracing buttressed the posts to prevent motion when the
loft was placed upon them.
